Be our guest
It's almost two months ago when there was a foreign visit from Erasmus. I was asked by my teacher to write a short article about that week, so what can be easier than copy that here? :D
It’s quite easy logic:
You go somewhere and then someone goes to you. That’s why we had a foreign
visit from different parts of Europe – Italy, Greece, Spain and Finland – here
in Příbram during the second week of October.
Sunday was about
expectations – it was the day when all the teams came, and even that we had got
in contact with our guests through social media before, we were nervous. Who
will come to us? Will he/she be fine? Will I get well with him/her? These are
the most common things you could read in our minds. We can’t forget our nervous
parents, who were asking themselves (and also us): What will I cook? Will they
like it? What time should I pick them up? Will we have to talk to them? And
also teachers! Will they enjoy the programme we prepared? Will they work hard?
Will we always be in time?
(Now, put your hands up
if your fear was useless!)
Because every team came
in different time, we had less or more time to get to know each other during
the first evening, but we all can say that we got well with our guests. That’s
also why it was absolutely fine to play „ice-breaking“ games on Monday which
helped us to remember most of the names – honestly, we wouldn’t be able to do
it without these activities as well as we did. And that knowledge of names was
really usefull when we continued with making friendships in a bowling hall.
On Tuesday, we had a
tiring day – all day trip to Pilsen, where we visited a career consulting
center. They helped us to discovered our strong points and weaknesses which is
always good to know about ourselves. Then we moved to „Plzeňský Prazdroj“
brewery – it was interesting to see the process of making and especially to
visit huge cellers with enormous barrels of beer.
As I said, it was a
tiring day, but nothing in comparison with Wednesday. It’s a bit complicated to
explain how it worked, but those of you who were there know it. We prepared
five stands connected with some interesting jobs like fire fighter, police
officer, vet, waiteress in café and journalist in a little public house. Then
five groups of students moved from one place to another and listened to
intrudicing those jobs and asked the questions they had prepared. If I had
enough computer skills, I would prepare a survey what was the best for you (but
I’m pretty sure that the fire station would win). ;) The afternoon was free for
us, so some students who couldn’t wait until Friday visited Prague and the rest
of us had an active relax in Laser game arena.
Thursday… well, it had a
bitter taste of soon leaving. Especially when the teacher told: „Don’t forget
to pack your luggage!“ Really, it wouldn’t be a big problem if they could stay
here longer… J
But we forget it during a final party where we had a lot of fun and a lot of
photos thanks to the photographer who was there for us. She didn’t have any
rest, there was always someone who wanted to have a keepsake. And even when the
party ended, we didn’t go home, we were using every minute to be together so
the most of us came home at… well… at about midnight.
But everyone woke up so
we could go to Prague, the last station of the week. We went along the Route of
the Kings, from Powder tower to the Prague castle, and we also fond some time
to have a boat trip on Vltava river. Then… it was the saddest part, and even
that I had told myself: Don’t cry! (and others told it to me aloud too), I did.
If you remember weepy fatty with a face dirty from maskara, that was me.
But I hope you enjoyed it
here and that we were good hosts for you, that you didn’t miss anything (maybe
except your parents) and you will come back one day. Because not all the roads
go to Rome – some of them go to Příbram too.
;)
